The rum brand ‘Old Monk’ is changed to ‘Bold Monk.’ The makers were also asked to remove an entire dialogue about the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, among few other cuts.

Oppenheimer is the BIGGEST Hollywood opener in Inox Srinagar, Kashmir; has an outside chance of crossing the collections of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan

Bollywood Hungama has been at the forefront to report about the reopening of cinemas in Kashmir. The first multiplex in the beautiful state was opened on September 20, 2022. Two days earlier, on September 18, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Multipurpose Cinema Halls, located in Pulwama and Shopian districts. RRR (2022) was the first film shown in Kashmir in these theatres and also the first film to be screened in Kashmir in three decades. Last week, we also reported on how Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (2023) will be the first film to be screened at the newly opened theatres in Kashmir’s Baramulla and Handwara.

And now, Kashmir theatres are back in the news, thanks to Oppenheimer. The Christopher Nolan directorial is done beyond expectations across the country, and Inox Srinagar is no exception. It emerged as the biggest Hollywood opener and could possibly emerge as the highest Hollywood grosser in the state, beating other recent Hollywood biggies like Fast X (2023), John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (2023), Avatar: The Way Of Water (2022) etc.

Social media has been of the opinion that Oppenheimer is the first Hollywood film to get sold out in Inox Srinagar. However, Vikas Dhar, clarified, “Oppenheimer is the first Hollywood film to get such a massive response in our theatre. Avatar: The Way Of Water got sold out and so did a couple of other films. But to have such a sustained response and house full shows for three days is a first. For Avatar: The Way Of Water, we got a few enquiries before it was out. However, for Oppenheimer, we began to be flooded with enquiries four weeks before its release. The moviegoers asked us to release the film in our theatre on the same day as the rest of India.”

Looking at the response to Oppenheimer, exhibition sources feel that it won’t be a surprise if it manages to cross the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan in Inox Srinagar or come close to it.

Vikas Dhar reacted to these claims, “I don’t think so. I’ll be really surprised if it happens. Shah Rukh Khan’s fan following here is unparalleled. We are already getting enquiries for his next film, Jawan. Some of the comments we have got recently are, ‘I will come and see Oppenheimer but I am actually waiting for Jawan’!”

In Inox Srinagar, Oppenheimer is playing four shows a day in the English version and one show is of the dubbed Hindi version. Vikas Dhar continued, “Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy have such a hardcore fan following here. It is a lesson for us that even in Kashmir, people are following these artists. Our audiences have acquired an international taste. It’s quite fascinating.”

Meanwhile, Oppenheimer has collected nearly Rs. 30 crores in two days in India and has a shot at crossing the Rs. 100 crores mark.

Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan to share stage at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

The 14th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is all set to kick off from August 11 to 20. Apart from the many movies that would be screened at the festival, the other attraction that the festival offers is the presence of a number of Indian film celebrities. Like previous editions, this time also a list of Bollywood celebrities would be gracing the occasion.

Interestingly, during the opening of the IFFM, filmmaker Karan Johar and star actor Kartik Aaryan would be present. Not just that, the two would also be sharing the stage! This is going to be a big moment that is sure to get heads turned.

For the unversed, there was an alleged fallout between Karan and Kartik in 2021 over the making of Dostana 2, the second film in the franchise. Kartik was cast in the film but he walked out of the project after starting it off. Hence, there were reports of a major fallout between the two. However, neither Karan nor Kartik confirmed the same.

In June last year, Karan and Kartik were spotted sharing the same table at an awards function. It will be interesting to see if there will be any interaction between the two when they share the stage together at the 14th IFFM.

The other guests that are expected to grace the festival include, Shabana Azmi, Mrunal Thakur, Rana Daggubati, Anurag Kashyap, R Balki, Malaika Arora, Saiyami Kher, Sunny Leone, among others.

Uorfi Javed allegedly gets harassed by male co-passengers in her flight; says, “Public figure – yes, public property – No”

Uorfi Javed, who loves to flaunt her unique outfits and is often the centre of paparazzi’s attention, appeared in yet another different avatar at the Mumbai airport. She was papped at the airport in a never-before-seen look as she coloured her hair in a pinkish shade, while taking a short trip to Goa for a quick vacation. The social media influencer was seen travelling in economy class for the first time, but her flight experience turned out to be a nightmare as it left her disturbed. The reality show star took to social media to describe the unruly behaviour of a few male passengers who allegedly harassed and bullied by passing nasty remarks.

Speaking about the recent experience she underwent, Uorfi Javed revealed about her encounter with a group of boys who were also travelling with her in the same flight from Mumbai to Goa. As soon as they recognised her, they were allegedly seen targeting her and passing harsh comments at her as well as using demeaning words and making fun of her. Furthermore, they also shouted her name many times in their drunken state and misbehaved with her. Even though she ignored her behaviour, Uorfi decided to open up about the bullying incident on the social media platform.

She took to her Instagram story, describing the experience on the platform, saying, “While travelling from Mumbai to Goa in one of the flights yesterday I had to go through harassment, the men in this video saying nasty things, eve teasing and calling names. When I confronted them one of them said that their friends were drunk. Being drunk is no excuse to misbehave with women. Public figure Yes, Public property No.”

It was further being said that even though the boys’ action disturbed her and made her uncomfortable, Uorfi remained calm in order to avoid making a scene and for the well-being of other passengers.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: CBFC replaces ‘b******d’ with ‘behan di’, ‘bra’ with ‘item’ and Old Monk with ‘Bold Monk’; removes Lok Sabha and Mamata Banerjee’s references

Karan Johar is all set to release his directorial venture, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, in cinemas next week and all eyes are already on this multi-starrer. The advance booking is expected to open soon and meanwhile, the censor process has been successfully completed.

However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the romantic drama after enforcing certain cuts. To begin with, the abusive word ‘b******d’, used multiple times in the film, was replaced by ‘behan di’. The popular rum brand Old Monk was mentioned in the film and it was changed to ‘Bold Monk’. ‘Lok Sabha’ was also mentioned in a dialogue and the CBFC asked the makers to remove it and not even replace it with any other term.

That’s not all. A certain word was replaced with ‘Koi filter’ in the Rabindranath Tagore scene. In the absence of exact detail, its not clear whether or not the mention of the legendary figure has been retained. Then, an entire dialogue about West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee, was asked to be deleted. Lastly, a certain dialogue in the lingerie shop scene, which was termed as ‘degrading women’ and ‘vulgar’, was removed. In the same scene, ‘bra’ was replaced with ‘item’.

After these changes were made, the CBFC handed over the certificate to the makers on Wednesday, July 19. The length of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 168 minutes. In other words, the film is 2 hours and 48 minutes long.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra. It releases on July 28.
