Rekha's heartfelt words of praise leave Manisha Koirala teary-eyed: “My prayers have come true”

Veteran actress Manisha Koirala, who shines in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest Netflix venture, Heeramandi: The Diamong Bazaar, received heartfelt accolades from none other than the legendary Rekha.

In a conversation with Filmygyan, Koirala unveiled Rekha's emotional reaction to her performance, sharing, "She was telling me that 18-20 years ago, she was offered this role." Moved by Rekha's endorsement, Koirala recounted, "Bachcha, I was praying that if I don’t do this role, you should do it. My prayers have come true. You have done it marvellously; you have gone through so much in life and you have brought life to the character."

Rekha's admiration didn't just leave a mark on Koirala; it reverberated through the industry as well. During the Los Angeles premiere of the series, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali disclosed Rekha's previous association with the project, stating, "This was 18 years ago, at one point it was Rekha ji, Kareena and Rani Mukerji." Bhansali's revelation sheds light on the intricate casting journey that ultimately led to the current ensemble featuring Koirala alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and others.

In Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Koirala, along with a stellar cast, brings to life the rich tapestry of characters residing in the enchanting world of tawaifs. Reflecting on Rekha's influence, Koirala expressed her admiration, proclaiming, "Rekha Ji is a goddess. I love her. She is the most graceful and poetic. What an artist she is." With Rekha's blessing echoing in her heart, Koirala's portrayal adds another layer of depth and authenticity to the narrative, enriching the viewer's experience of Bhansali's magnum opus.

Recently, rumours were rife suggesting he'd attend the KKR vs. Lucknow Super Giants match in Lucknow. However, the Lucknow police swiftly debunked this speculation through social media.

This buzz coincided with KKR's crucial match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Fans were no doubt excited at the prospect of seeing their favourite actor and team owner in the stands.

The Lucknow police, anticipating potential crowd control issues and misinformation, took a proactive approach. They tweeted a clear message in Hindi, “It is being reported in some social media/media that Shahrukh Khan is coming to support KKR team in today's IPL match. No such information has been received in this regard yet. Unnecessary rumours should not be spread otherwise strict action will be taken against those who spread rumours.”

Bollywood director Karan Johar slammed a comedian's recent impersonation of him, calling it "poor taste." Johar, known for directing films like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, took to social media on Sunday to express his disappointment. While he refrained from naming the comedian, Johar criticized the industry's tendency for self-deprecating humour, suggesting it undermines its members.

On May 5, Karan Johar took to Instagram to express his disappointment. He wrote, “I was sitting and watching television with my mom... and saw a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly respectable channel . a comic was mimicking me in exceptionally poor taste…”

Explaining his sentiments further, he said, “I expect this from trolls and faceless and nameless people but when your own industry can disrespect someone who has been in the business for over 25 years it speaks volumes about the times we live in... this doesn't even anger me it just makes me sad!”

Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Panday end relationship after two years: Report

Actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Panday have reportedly ended their relationship, according to a recent Times of India report. A close friend of the couple is quoted as saying that they had been dating for "almost two years" and the break-up "came as a shock to all of us."

The report also stated that they remain cordial and are "trying to move on" from the situation. Ananya has reportedly found solace in spending time with her new pet. The news comes after weeks of speculation surrounding the couple's relationship status.  Last month, a cryptic post on Ananya's Instagram story fuelled rumors of a split.

Previously, Aditya and Ananya made headlines for their vacations together in Spain and other locations. They were frequently spotted out and about in Mumbai, and Ananya even playfully referred to herself as "Ananya Coy Kapur" on Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan. While both actors have previously addressed the media regarding public scrutiny of their personal lives, they have chosen to keep the specific reasons for their split private.

On the professional front, Ananya was last seen in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, a Netflix film. She has a bunch of projects in her kitty including Control, a Vikramaditya Motwane directorial, and Call Me Bae, an Amazon Prime Video original show.

Meanwhile, Aditya’s last on-screen appearance was the second part of The Night Manager’s first season. The show also featured Sobhita Dhulipala and Anil Kapoor. He will be next seen in Metro Inn Dino, sharing the screen space with Sara Ali Khan.

Alia Bhatt set to dazzle Met Gala 2024 after 2023 debut in Prabal Gurung; leaves for New York from Mumbai

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is set to light up the red carpet at the prestigious Met Gala 2024. This marks Bhatt's second appearance at the highly anticipated fashion event, making her one of the select few Indian celebrities to grace the prestigious gala.

According to India Today, while details about the designer remain under wraps, anticipation is high for Bhatt to deliver another unforgettable fashion moment. News of Bhatt's attendance sent a wave of excitement through her fans and the fashion world alike. Paparazzi captured the actress at Mumbai's Kalina airport on Saturday, May 4, as she departed for New York City, the host city of the Met Gala.

The 2024 theme is "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." The official dress code is “The Garden of Time”. The theme is inspired by a 1962 story. It's open to interpretation, but expect lots of flowers and plant-based outfits!

As per Vogue, “The exhibit will feature approximately 250 rare items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. Spanning over 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs by Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and more. Some garments that are too fragile to ever be worn again—such as a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown from 1877—will also be displayed via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation.”

This year, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth are the official co-hosts. They follow last year's group of famous people, which included Penélope Cruz and Roger Federer. Vogue's Anna Wintour has been running the Met Gala since 1995, making it the giant fashion party it is today!

Bhatt made her Met Gala debut in 2023, turning heads with a stunning Prabal Gurung couture creation. The renowned Indian designer crafted a couture masterpiece inspired by Karl Lagerfeld's iconic bridal look for Chanel's 1992 fall/winter collection. The ensemble perfectly captured Bhatt's unique blend of elegance and grace.

Huma Qureshi films with 300 villagers near Ahmedabad as Gulabi gets emotional ending: Report

Huma Qureshi has completed filming for the upcoming movie Gulabi, a powerful tale celebrating the resilience and strength of women. Announced on International Women's Day, the film is a collaboration between Jio Studios and Echelon Productions. Directed by Vipul Mehta and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Vishal Rana, Gulabi is inspired by a real-life story. It follows the inspiring journey of an auto-rickshaw driver who emerges as a beacon of change, empowering women to take charge of their destinies.

According to a report in Mid-day, shot in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the film wrapped up with a significant crowd sequence. The production team brought together 300 people from nearby villages, and according to a unit source, the shoot was electrifying. The source revealed, “The shoot was on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, and the production team had gathered 300 people from nearby villages. One would think that managing such a crowd would be a nightmare, but it was an electric shoot. Huma and the extras filmed the sequence without any hiccups.”

Qureshi expressed her deep connection to the film's message. "Working on Gulabi has been a joy," she said. "The powerful narrative resonated deeply with me. It's a story that speaks to the heart and soul."
