The Archies gang Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor to debut on Koffee With Karan 8

The highly awaited combination of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, and the late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor are gearing up for the release of their debut film. The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar, which is inspired by the comics world, is all set for its digital release and it seems that Shah Rukh Khan’s closest friend Karan Johar too will be giving them their debut platform in the upcoming show Koffee With Karan 8.

Readers would be aware that Karan Johar launched the eighth season of the show, earlier this week, and now the latest update is that the filmmaker-producer will be kick-starting the season with the newbie star kids. In a report on News 18 Showsha, a source was quoted saying, “After watching their parents on the Koffee couch for years now, Suhana, Khushi and Agastya are truly excited to make their Koffee With Karan debut. It will be like a promotional event for The Archies. In all likelihood, the shoot for the episode will happen next month.”

If these reports are to be believed, the rest of the ensemble cast of youngsters which includes Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Aditi Dot, and Mihir Ahuja may also be a part of the episode. However, it is also being said that Karan Johar will be seen giving the audience a glimpse into the life and journey of Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor. “The episode will largely focus on the growing up years of the three star kids, their debut and their experience of being born in families with a film lineage. Karan has seen them right from the time they were kids and he’s equally elated to be hosting them on the show. The audience are definitely in for some interesting tea,” added the source.

The Archies, which will mark the debut of the star kids and ensemble cast, is set in the 1960s and is slated for release on Netflix on October 26. On the other hand, Koffee With Karan Season 8 too is expected to premiere on the same date on Disney+ Hotstar.

SCOOP: Ayushmann Khurrana, Ammy Virk and Ahan Shetty to join Sunny Deol in Border 2

J P Dutt and Sunny Deol have joined hands after 26 years for the “spiritual sequel” to Border. The two worked together in two notable films Yateem and Kshatriya before Border in 1997.

After this, Deol and Dutt had a massive fallout. Now, it is reliably learnt that Border 2 would have no direct or indirect connection with Border. “It is an entirely stand-alone project. Sunny Deol will play a soldier. And joining him in the cast are Ayushmann Khurrana, Ahan Shetty, and Punjab’s star Ammy Virk in a stellar role,” reveals a source in the know.

Interestingly, it is also being said that Ayushmann Khurrana will be stepping into a role offered to Kartik Aaryan firstm while for Ahan Shetty; Border 2 would be his follow-up to his 2021 debut in Tadap, which did not work. As for the Punjabi star Ammy Virk, though he has said no to numerous offers in Hindi in the past, he has given a go ahead for Border 2.

BREAKING: 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai, 1942: A Love Story, Parinda to re-release in cinemas as Vidhu Vinod Chopra completes 45 years in the film industry

Film Heritage Foundation and PVR Inox have joined hands to organize a special film festival to celebrate filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra's cinema as he completes 45 years in the film industry. This film festival promises to take cinephiles on a memorable journey through Vidhu Vinod Chopra's remarkable filmography. For younger viewers, this will be an opportunity to watch Chopra's early films on the big screen for the first time.

The gripping thriller Khamosh (1986), which enjoys a cult following and is not available on any streaming platform, is likely to be a big draw. As will be his first feature film, Sazaye Maut (1989), a noir thriller that signalled his entry as a filmmaker of great promise. The gangster drama Parinda (1989) is one of the early films of the genre, while the musical super hit 1942: A Love Story (1994) and the multi-textured Mission Kashmir (2000) kick-started many careers of the film industry. Each film represents a unique facet of Chopra's storytelling skills.

Audiences will also get a glimpse of Chopra's ouvre as a producer with Parineeta (2005), Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006) and 3 Idiots (2009).

Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, Founder-Director of Film Heritage Foundation said, "When I was a student at FTII and saw Khamosh for the first time, it was a moment of inspiration for us. From that point onwards, Vinod Chopra the director has fascinated me. It was a long cherished dream to organize a film festival to reintroduce Vinod's filmmaking journey starting with Sazaye Maut, Khamosh and Parinda. His craft and his passion are in full display here, and I believe these films will be an inspiration to younger filmmakers as well."

Nikkhil Advani cancels preview screening of Mumbai Diaries Season 2 following death of mother-in-law

Nikkhil Advani’s mother-in-law Sumitra Gupta passed away earlier in the day. Because of this, the press screening of his upcoming web series Mumbai Diaries: Season 2, which was supposed to happen today, stands cancelled.

A press statement from Advani said, “Our deepest condolences go to Nikkhil Advani and his family for the sad demise of his mother-in-law Smt. Sumitra Gupta earlier today. As a mark of respect, the Mumbai Diaries preview screening that was scheduled for October 4th stands cancelled. Our best wishes are with our incredible cast, crew and all our partners for the successful launch of the show on October 6th on Amazon Prime Video.”

Created by Nikkhil Advani, the second season of Mumbai Diaries stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Mohit Raina, Shreya Dhanwantary, Natasha Bharadwaj, Satyajeet Dubey and Mrunmayee Deshpande. This season revolved around the backdrop of the 2005 Mumbai floods. The first season dealt with the 26/11 terror attacks on Mumbai.

Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi to kick start Ramayana in February 2024; Yash to join them

Audiences were excited to see the real-life pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as Ram and Sita in the upcoming Nitesh Tiwari version of Ramayana but were disappointed to see that the actress had to opt due to date issues. Now, the film, which is expected to be three-part series mounted on a massive scale by the Bawaal filmmaker and Ravi Udyawar, will feature Sai Pallavi as Sita. Further speaking about the developments, a source recently opened up about it asserting that the film which will also feature KGF fame Kannada superstar Yash as Raavan, will go on floors next year.

In a recent Pinkvilla report, a source revealed about the ongoing prep for the magnum opus wherein it was revealed that Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi will be kicking off work on the film in the first quarter of 2024. The source said, “Ranbir and Sai Pallavi will start shooting for the film around the month of February 2024. The first part of the trilogy will focus more on Lord Ram and Sita, leading towards the conflict of Sita Haran. The duo will be shooting for the film from February till August 2024, before calling it a wrap for Ramayana: Part One.” Further, the source also talked about Yash kicking off the project, continuing, “Yash has a rather extended appearance in Ramayana: Part One, however, his character will dominate the proceedings in the second part, which is set in Sri Lanka. He has allotted 15 days to shoot for Ramayana: Part One.”

On the other hand, we hear that the work on the film front is a tad bit slow considering the extensive work, which is involved in creating the backdrop and the time period the film will be set in. "Nitesh Tiwari and team have been working actively on creating the world of Ramayana and the blueprint is finally all ready. The VFX plates are prepared by the Oscar Winning Company, DNEG and it’s a world that would blow away the minds of audiences. However, the strength of Ramayana won’t be the visual but the simplistic storytelling and compelling inter-character emotions,” the source added.
