Aamir Khan to produce Lahore 1947 starring Sunny Deol; Rajkumar Santoshi to direct

The upcoming film Lahore, 1947 produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, boasts one of the most prominent creative names of the century. This remarkable project marks the teaming up of Sunny Deol, and Rajkumar Santoshi along with Aamir Khan. Interestingly, this film will also mark Aamir Khan Productions’ (AKP) 17th production under their banner.

Aamir Khan will take on the mantle of producer under Aamir Khan Productions, while the director Rajkumar Santoshi will helm the project. Leading the film as the main actor will be Sunny Deol.

Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol have previously delivered three box office hits together in the form of Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. Notably, Sunny Deol recently broke the box office with Rs.500 Cr plus mega-blockbuster Gadar 2!

What makes the announcement even more impressive is the fact that Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan have had very iconic box-office clashes as competitors in the past, where both have eventually emerged victorious. The first iconic clash at the ticket window was witnessed in 1990 when Aamir Khan’s Dil and Sunny Deol’s Ghayal released on the same day. Then in 1996, it was Raja Hindustani vs. Ghatak followed by the most epic box Office clash of Indian cinema in 2001 when Lagaan was released on the same day as Gadar. Now, for the very first time, the duo have come together and joined hands on a project!

Sidharth Malhotra starrer Yodha preponed to December 8, 2023; once again faces clash with Katrina Kaif – Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas

Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead, which was scheduled for December 15, 2023, has now been preponed to December 8, 2023. The film is an action saga directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. Earlier this morning, the makers of Katrina Kaif – Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas also announced that their movie will release a week early too. Now, both films will clash at the box office, once again.

Dharma Productions on Tuesday shared the announcement and wrote, “Ladies & gentlemen, get ready as the engine of #Yodha is all revved up & ready to make its touchdown in cinemas on 8th December 2023!”

Last week, Bollywood Hungama learnt that Yodha, which is scheduled to release on December 15, will move to another date. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Yodha is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Karan realized that it’ll be difficult for Yodha to retain screens in the second week once Dunki and Salaar arrive in cinemas. Moreover, it’ll become challenging even for Dunki and Salaar’s distributors since theatres would not want to lose out on Yodha, especially if it does well.”

The source continued, “Karan Johar has a long association with Shah Rukh Khan, which is well known. Also, he’s close to Prabhas as well since KJo presented Baahubali series in Hindi. Hence, out of respect for Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas, he has decided to bring Yodha on some other date.”

Starring Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna alongside Sidharth Malhotra, Amazon Prime and Dharma Productions presents in association with Mentor Disciple Films, a Dharma Production film Yodha, is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan. Katrina Kaif – Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas pre-proponed to December 8, 2023; averts clash with Sidharth Malhotra starrer Yodha

The much-awaited film Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, has got a new release date. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, was set to be released on December 15, 2023, in both Hindi and Tamil. It now averted a clash with Sidharth Malhotra starrer Yodha. Now, the film will be released a week prior on December 8, 2023.

The makers made the official announcement on October 3, 2023. No big Hindi film is releasing on December 8. However, the film will face competition with two movies releasing prior to that week on December 1 – Animal and Sam Bahadur – starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, respectively.

Merry Christmas is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray, and Kewal Garg. The film has been shot in two languages, Hindi and Tamil, with different supporting actors.

The Hindi version features Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand, while the Tamil version stars Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles. Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte will also be seen in cameos in the film. Vivek Oberoi's ex-business partner arrested for allegedly duping him of Rs 1.55 crore

In a recent development, the Mumbai Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) police have arrested Sanjay Saha, the proprietor of an event management company and a former business associate of renowned actor Vivek Oberoi. Saha stands accused of deceiving the actor of an estimated Rs 1.55 crore, according to a report by the Indian Express. Two additional suspects remain at large in connection with the case.

Vivek Oberoi's company, Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP, authorised CA Deven Bafna lodged a police complaint in July, alleging fraudulent activities by the partners of Anandita Entertainment LLP, including Sanjay Saha, Nandita Saha, Radhika Nanda, and others. Sanjay Saha was taken into custody on Sunday.

The actor's complaint contended that the accused induced him to invest in an event management and film production company, promising substantial profits. However, it is alleged that the funds were later misappropriated for personal gain by the accused.

Based on Oberoi's representative's complaint, the MIDC police filed charges against Saha, his mother Nandita, and Radhika under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant, or agent), 420 (cheating), and 34 (common intention).

The interaction between Vivek Oberoi and Sanjay Saha began in 2020 when he and his wife, Priyanka, were considering closing their company, Oberoi Organic LLP. At that time, Oberoi entered into a partnership with Saha in the event organisation business within the film industry.

According to the police complaint, the name of Oberoi Organic LLP was changed to Anandita Entertainment LLP, as per their mutual understanding and agreements. This new entity was intended for organising events in the film industry and film production. Sanjay Saha, Nandita, and Radhika were also included as partners in Anandita Entertainment LLP, while Priyanka Oberoi resigned from her position.

Within six months, Vivek Oberoi stepped down as a partner in Anandita Entertainment LLP, transferring his 33.33 percent share and position to his firm, Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP.

By November 2021, the actor had invested Rs 95.72 lakh in Anandita Entertainment LLP. Subsequently, in February 2021, they embarked on producing the film Ganshe, with actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui signing on and receiving a payment of Rs 51 lakh from Oberoi.

However, a close examination of investment records in early 2022 allegedly revealed Saha's misuse of the funds. When Oberoi inquired with the firm's manager, her account corroborated this discovery.

Saha, Nandita, and Radhika had allegedly diverted the firm's funds, totalling Rs 58.56 lakh, for personal expenditures such as insurance premiums, jewellery purchases, salaries, and more, as stated in the FIR. Additionally, Oberoi reportedly uncovered Saha's creation of another firm, "Anandita Studios Pvt. Ltd.," and misrepresentation to Zee5 regarding the production of Ganshe.

Upon learning of this fraud, Oberoi notified actor Siddiqui, who promptly reimbursed Rs 51 lakh to Oberoi, as disclosed in the police complaint. The complaint further contends that Saha and the other implicated parties misappropriated Rs 60 lakh, comprising payments received for Oberoi's guest appearances at various events and programs.

Amitabh Bachchan ad lands Flipkart in big trouble with mobile phone retailers; platform removes the video

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s latest advertisement with the platform Flipkart has landed the latter in trouble with mobile phone retailers. In their latest Hindi advertisement, which is a promotional campaign for the upcoming festive season, the actor is talking about the special mobile phone deals which are not available at the retail stores. The smartphone retailers are alleging that this is misleading the buyers.

The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), which represents 150,000 mobile retailers, wrote a long letter to the smartphone brands to address the issue. “Our purpose in addressing you is to express our deep concern and disappointment regarding the recent wave of derogatory advertisements that have been proliferating across various online platforms, social media, and print media. These advertisements have been influencing the buying behaviour of customers through false and misleading statements, such as the one promoted by Flipkart with the endorsement of the mega star, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, stating, 'yeh Dukan per nahin milne wala' (This will not be found in stores),” AIMRA said in the letter, as reported by Economic Times.

The report also stated that the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), which represents 80 million retailers, has written a letter to Amitabh Bachchan condemning the advertisement. “We are highly disheartened to witness your recent advertisement for Flipkart, where you claimed that deals and offers are not available at shopkeepers, thereby misleading and influencing customers,” CAIT said.

Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force, based on India’s first and deadliest air strike, to release on October 2, 2024

Jio Studios and Maddock Films have announced their upcoming film, Sky Force, with Akshay Kumar, set to release on October 2, 2024. October 2nd, which we all know as Gandhi Jayanti is also the birth date of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, and the film is set during his tenure.
