BREAKING: Hrithik Roshan-starrer Koi Mil Gaya to re-release in theatres on August 4

Earlier this year, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) and Jab We Met (2007) made a return to the cinemas in the Valentine’s Day week. Last year, several memorable films of Amitabh Bachchan got a release in cinemas on the occasion of the mega star’s 80th birthday. All these films got a huge response, though these films are available on streaming and have been seen by viewers repeatedly. And now yet another film will try its luck in this regard. Koi Mil Gaya (2003) is all set to re-release on the big screen this Friday, August 4.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, the re-release will take place as part of the film’s 20-year celebrations. The Hrithik Roshan-Preity Zinta starrer was released on August 8, 2003. Then it was released in 450 screens. The re-release, meanwhile, will take place in 30 cities and will be a tight release. However, as it happened in the case of Jab We Met earlier this year, the prints can increase depending on the demand.

Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Koi Mil Gaya was the story of a developmentally delayed child Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) who falls in love with Nisha (Preity Zinta). On the other hand, he hides an adorable alien Jadoo. The friendly alien transfers his power to Rohit who in turn transfers it to his son Krrish (Hrithik Roshan). In the sequel, Krrish (2006), the makers focused on the story of Krrish, his love affair with Priya (Priyanka Chopra) and his face-off with the menacing Dr Siddhant Arya (Naseeruddin Shah), who had kept his father captive for nearly 20 years. The blockbuster success of Krrish motivated Rakesh Roshan to make Krrish 3 (2013). It was the tale of Krrish fighting a bigger evil, Kaal (Vivek Oberoi).

Rakesh Roshan is currently developing Krrish 4. In a recent interview, he revealed that he plans to take it on floors in 2024. On the occasion of his birthday in 2022, Bollywood Hungama had exclusively spoken to the legendary filmmaker. When asked about Krrish 4, he said, “My scripting is almost done. It’s a big-budget film. The challenge for me is that in today’s day and age, people are aware of and watch superhero films from all over the world. These superhero films are made on very big budgets. And we don’t have such big budgets. So we have to make superhero films with very strong content and with newer ideas to come at par with the big-budget superhero movies. Meanwhile, Hollywood films are released all over the world. Our films are released in India and certain overseas territories with a huge South Asian diaspora and hence our box office potential is limited as compared to Hollywood. So, I am just waiting for the right time when the audiences would start flocking to the cinemas once again in big numbers.”

Zoya Akhtar addresses Jee Le Zaraa delay: ”We are just waiting for the dates”

Ever since Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa was announced with Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, fans have been eagerly waiting for an update. However, in recent times, it was reported that Chopra had exited the project as she is going to begin shooting Citadel season 2. Following that rumours were rife that Katrina Kaif was also parting ways. Though none of this is confirmed, Zoya Akhtar, whose production house Tiger Baby is producing it, has addressed the delay.

In a conversation with India Today at the trailer launch of Made In Heaven 2, she said, “We are just waiting for the dates.” The filmmaker did not mention if the project will move forward with the same cast or not.

Back in 2021, Akhtar had stated that Jee Le Zaraa, is his attempt to see the world through the gaze of women. He said, “Whether it’s a drama, comedy or thriller, there should be films made about women. That balance is healthy for the creative world. Where you have the male point of view, you also have the female point of view on things. Emotionally, the construct of the two is similar on a certain plane yet different. To see the world through women’s eyes is important in popular culture. The more we embrace it, the healthier it will be for society.”

SCOOP: Farhad Samji is still a part of Akshay Kumar-starrer Hera Pheri 3; all set to direct the much-awaited comic caper

Director Farhad Samji has handled some of the biggest films of recent times like the Akshay Kumar-starrer Bachchhan Paandey (2022) and Salman Khan-starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023). Both films got panned and Farhad was held responsible for their debacles. Just before the release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, it came to light that he has been assigned as the director of Hera Pheri 3. It led to a lot of backlash. The criticism grew after Farhad’s web series, Pop Kaun, dropped on Disney+ Hotstar. Akshay Kumar’s fan clubs came out in huge numbers on Twitter and trended ‘Remove Farhad Samji from Hera Pheri’. After the release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, there were reports that the makers of Hera Pheri 3 were contemplating dropping Farhad from the film.

However, sources claim that Farhad has been retained in the comic caper. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Contrary to certain reports, Farhad Samji was never ousted from Hera Pheri 3. Yes, the makers did think about it but they never went ahead with it.”

The source continued, “The makers realized that his films and show suffered as the writing was not up to the mark. Otherwise, his direction is fine. He’s a rare director in today’s times who understands commercial cinema and how to make grand, big-scale films. If he’s equipped with a first-rate script, nothing can stop him from coming up with a thorough entertainer. Acchi script ke bina toh bade bade directors fail hue hai. Hence, Farhad was retained. The script of the film is shaping up well and it is expected to be one of the biggest openers of Bollywood or maybe, Indian cinema.”

The original star cast of Hera Pheri – Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal – will feature in the third part as well.

In April 2023, when Bollywood Hungama had exclusively asked Farhad Samji about the ‘Remove Farhad Samji from Hera Pheri’ trend and whether he was unfairly targeted, he had said, “Firstly, when the film has not even been officially announced, toh kaun hai yeh log? Secondly, you used two words in your question and I’d like to highlight them – ‘unfair’ and ‘target’. We try our best. If anyone has any problem, then we’ll try to rectify it by making better movies and by writing better punches. Our intention is to appeal to audiences of all kinds and provide them with a film that has a combination of romance, masala, action, comedy etc. God has been very kind right from my writing days, and it continues as I turned director. Housefull 4 (2019) is the biggest hit of Akshay Kumar. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022; co-written by Farhad) is such a huge success if we take into account the ROI. Ab iske aage kya bolne ka?”

CBFC clears Gadar 2 with UA certificate, the film is 170 minutes long

With the month of August starting today, the countdown for the release of Gadar 2 has begun. The film, which stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in pivotal roles, is all set to hit the screens on August 11, just four days before the big Independence Day holiday. With the release of the film nearing, some more details about the movie have come out.

Veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh has revealed that Gadar 2 has been passed by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) with UA certificate earlier in the day. The movie has a runtime of exact 170 minutes, which comes down to 2 hours and 50 minutes.

The trailer of Gadar 2 has increased the anticipation for the movie. Sunny Deol’s hammer scene from the promo has made heads turn. Director Anil Sharma spoke about that scene recently during the film’s trailer launch. He said, “There’s a scene involving Sunny Deol doing action with a hammer. Our team of 10-15 people were sitting one day. I asked them, ‘Jo Bollywood aur South ke bade bade hero hai, woh yeh scene karte toh kaise lagta?’ (If the big Bollywood and south actors had done the scene, how would it have looked?) They unanimously said, ‘Woh log karte toh bhi accha lagta lekin jaise Sunny sir lag rahe hai, waisa koi nahin lagta’ (They would have also looked good but not as good as Sunny sir)!”

The first film in the franchise Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which became a historic blockbuster, was about Tara Singh (Sunny) rescuing his wife Sakeena (Ameesha) by venturing into Pakistan. Gadar 2 will see Tara rescuing his son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma) from the clutches of Pakistan.

Kumkum Bhagya: Amidst changing feelings of Prachi for Ranbir, his marriage is fixed with Mihika

Zee TV’s popular primetime drama Kumkum Bhagya has kept its audience hooked with intriguing twists and turns. While the story focuses on the lead couple Ranbir (Krishna Kaul) and Prachi (Mugdha Chaphekar) and how their lives are constantly intertwined, the viewers recently witnessed a massive twist with Prachi marrying Akshay (Abhishek Malik), after the misunderstandings between Ranbir and Prachi grew over time.

In the recent episodes, viewers witnessed how Akshay takes Prachi for shopping to a mall but gets furious seeing Ranbir there. However, soon after they reach the shopping mall, it gets attacked by some goons, and they hold several people hostage. On the other hand, Ranbir will get a shock when he sees his mother Pallavi (Khyaati Keswani) at Akshay’s house. Pallavi is keen on fixing her son’s marriage with and Mihika and has come there to Akshay’s house to finalize the engagement and wedding dates. With so many lives intertwined with each other, will the eternal love of Prachi and Ranbir be able to survive and cross barriers. Will they be able to fix their twisted relationships or will they accept fate and move on? The show Kumkum Bhagya airs every day at 9 pm, only on Zee TV.

BREAKING: 27 cuts ordered by CBFC in OMG Oh My God 2; Akshay Kumar’s character changed from Lord Shiva to Messenger Of God; Ujjain’s reference removed (FULL DETAILS INSIDE)

Bollywood Hungama was one of the first ones to report that OMG Oh My God 2 has been finally passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an adult-only certificate. Bollywood Hungama has now stumbled upon the cut list, which mentions that as many as 27 cuts have been ordered by the CBFC.

To begin with, the modification at the beginning of the film was modified as per the CBFC's instructions and it will be played with a voiceover as well. Secondly, Akshay Kumar, who was to play Lord Shiva, now plays the Messenger of God. A dialogue 'Nandi mere bhakt...jo agya prabhu' was also added. The visuals of frontal nudity were removed and replaced with suitable visuals of Naga Sadhus.

Then an audio cut was done in a dialogue of an announcement being made at a temple referring to women that said 'Mahilayein nahin dekh sakti'. It was replaced by 'O lal shirt waale bhaiya, baba ka dhyan karte rahe'. The name of the school was changed to 'Savoday'. Then the 'Wahan madira chade hai' dialogue was modified and the references to alcohol were axed. A dialogue pertaining to the High Court was removed as it was deemed vulgar and defamatory. The visuals were also removed in this dialogue.

Then, the poster of Mood X condom from a billboard was removed. The word 'rat' was removed from the label of the bottle containing rat poison. Moreover, in an important dialogue, references to Shivling, Shri Bhagavad Gita, Upanishad, Atharvaved, Draupadi, Pandav, Krishna, Gopiyan and Raasleela were removed. In a dialogue of 'Taang kyun adhaaon?' mouthed by Akshay Kumar, certain modifications were done. The scene of Akshay Kumar's character meditating and bathing, presumably also shown in the promo, was also replaced. There are also scenes of his character being drunk and those scenes were also suitably modified.

Many more dialogues like 'Bade baal dekh kar', 'satya shivam sundaram', 'hamara desh...peeche nahin hai', 'stree ki yoni...' were also similarly modified. For the 'stree ki yoni...' scene, there were certain vulgar gestures which were also censored.

In the scene where Kanti (Pankaj Tripathi) questions a sex worker about unnatural sex, not just dialogues but even visuals were modified. Similarly, a character, Dr Prakah Kothari, talking about masturbation was also suitably modified, both visuals and dialogues. Then in a dialogue about masturbation, 'Haram' was replaced with 'Paap'.

Some more visual cuts were ordered in the scene where the judge was seen clicking a selfie on the court premises. This scene was modified suitably. The mention of 'ling' was also similarly modified in certain dialogues. The visuals of the boy in a sexual act in the viral video were quite toned down as per the guidelines of NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights). Interestingly, the film, which was originally based in Ujjain, is now set in a fictional place. The CBFC also asked the makers to remove all visuals, verbal references etc to certain people in positions of authority like Mahant. Lastly, the makers were asked to submit documentary evidence for the facts and stats mentioned in the film with regard to the sexual acts.

In all, 13 minutes of the film were censored. After these cuts were accepted, the censor certificate was granted to the makers. The length of OMG Oh My God 2 as mentioned on the certificate is 156 minutes. In other words, the Akshay Kumar-Pankaj Tripathi-Yami Gautam starrer is 2 hours and 36 minutes long. It releases in cinemas on August 11.
